BIOMASS

AEOLIKI Ltd. has a long-term involvement and acquired extensive experience in the development, realization, and improvement of renewable energy applications (mainly wind energy, but also biomass, PV, and hybrid systems).

In the biomass energy sector, in particular, AEOLIKI Ltd has more than 15 years of experience in biomass energy research and technological development (having successfully participated in  5 EU-funded projects) as well as the development and realization of commercial projects in Greece, Cyprus, and abroad, offering to potential investors a wide range of services, including:

- biomass resource assessment;
- design and planning process;
- business plans;
- realization of projects;
- operational monitoring and evaluation

AEOLIKI Ltd has participated in the planning & development of a large number of biomass power plants in Cyprus and Greece, totaling ~29 MW (Development  Phase 8 MW - Construction Phase  4 MW – Project Financing 17 MW).

AEOLIKI Ltd conducts comprehensive biomass potential assessment studies of selected sites, defines the optimum biomass power plant layout, and prepares the environmental impact and techno-economic studies necessary for acquiring production permission.
The after-construction services offered involve take-over services and the provision of technical management services to the developer in order to assure, maintain and optimize energy production.
In brief, the range of services offered includes the following:

Implementation of any biomass project for energy production will depend on existing local biomass forms and their respective quantities. It is also closely associated with access to the necessary quantities of raw materials (available biomass potential) and their cost-efficient collection to ensure the economic viability of the bioenergy chain in all stages (raw materials production - supply chain – conversion to end-user energy products).AEOLIKI Ltd. can prepare all required studies for the identification of available biomass potential, assessment of usable biomass potential in technical and financial terms, and potential for utilization in energy (power generation and heating/cooling) and biofuel production for transport, and assessment of strategies and measures

  • Power Plant design
    Design of biomass power plant components, equipment selection, preparation of detailed technical study and drawings.

  • Environmental impact studies

ESIA Study consists in a description of the proposed project, a description of the environment, legislative and regulatory considerations, a determination of the impacts from ongoing development, a determination of potential impacts of the proposed project, development of management and monitoring plan to mitigate negative impacts, emission monitoring programme - quality assurance/quality control plan. The main environmental aspects covered include noise, air emissions, odor emissions, visual effects, land use, fauna and flora, and protected areas.

  • Techno-economic and Feasibility studies
    Development of feasibility and techno-economic studies for planned biomass plants, taking into consideration issues such as biomass availability, access to available biomass sources, cost-efficient collection, technology options, and the financials associated with equipment, utilizing the in-house developed DataBase. Preparation of application files for Power Production Permits.

  • Technical operation of biomass power plant
    The foundation for a successful biomass power plant. It takes well-supervised and maintained equipment with high technical availability to assure investors of the forecasted profits. Take-over certificates, due diligence, equipment inspections, verification of performance, production improvements, etc.
